|WSL Contributes $1,000 to Olmsted Field Lights Fund|
|Friday, July 12, 2013|
The Westbrook Soccer League's Board of Directors voted unanimously last night to contribute $1,000 toward the private fundraising effort devoted to restoring the stadium lights at Westbrook High School's Olmsted Field.
"The Board saw this as not only a worthy investment into the future soccer careers of our current members," WSL President John C.L. Morgan said, "but also as a chance to give back to the many WSL alums who are playing soccer for the Blue Blazes today."
The stadium lights at Olmsted Field were removed last fall due to safety concerns, and the private fundraising efforts are part of a public-private partnership to restore the lights in time for the fall activities season.
"We couldn't have made this generous contribution to the fund without the hard work of [Fundraising Coordinator] Gary Rairdon and the other Board members and volunteers who donated their time to our fundraising efforts over the last year," Morgan said.
